What is a microgrid?

A microgrid is a self-sufficient energy system that serves a discrete geographic footprint, such as a college campus, hospital, building complex, neighborhood, a small energy community or even a single home.
It can operate independently from the main grid (we call this off-grid mode) or as a controllable entity with respect to the main grid (on-grid mode).
Within microgrids are one or more kinds of distributed energy( solar PV, wind turbines, energy storage systems, generators) that produce its power. They are often designed to provide with green energy at the local level.

  • The Shantou wind storage project in Guangdong is equipped with a 30 foot 1MWh BESS system, mainly used as an emergency backup power supply for enterprise power supply systems to improve power quality, wind power consumption in the factory area, and improve the reliability of enterprise power consumption.
  • As an emergency backup power source for enterprises, it can continuously supply power to important loads in the event of a power grid failure, ensuring the normal operation of important loads in the enterprise during peak hours and charging during peak and flat hours, which can reduce pressure on the power grid and delay the transformation time of the power grid
